Mtab- Customisable Robotic Solutions through Innovative Practises

CIO Vendor Automation is one of the biggest growth areas worldwide and is being applied across multiple industries. Manufacturing leads the path in being able to leverage and effectively use the functionalities and resources robotics can offer to a much greater extent. However, with the skills gap continuing to affect the manufacturing industry, only those manufacturers that make use of automated systems will be able to keep up with the demand. Additionally, challenges due to supply chain demand, product variety and safety of people is driving adoption of robotics in emerging markets. With the objective of addressing the hurdles encountered by the manufacturing industry, Chennai headquartered MTAB has joined the group of robot manufacturers to meet local Indian and South-East Asian demand by developing and executing a plan for indigenously developed robots that can be integrated across
multiple industries.

Incorporated in 1985, MTAB has been serving the area of advanced manufacturing technologies with a product portfolio that encompasses Manufacturing and Automation Solutions, Robotics and related software. In designing these solutions, the company has adopted a unique ‘building block’ approach, which allows them to customize solutions to individual customer requirements and to accomplish this, MTAB invests time and resources in understanding the customer needs and key objectives for implementing automation and Flexible Manufacturing Systems. A major fraction of this customer base is small and medium sized businesses looking to modernize their plants with CNC machines, robots and automation, and MTAB attempts to present solutions that align perfectly with the customer’s production plan.

Catering to different market segments
The company has utilised this in-depth understanding of customer process to build an assortment of robotic innovations ranging from 6-axis articulated robots to 4-axis SCARA robots for manufacturing, process, assembly and packaging industries.
One of these 6-axis articulated robots is ARISTO, which helped MTAB procure the Defence Technology Spin Off Award from the Indian ministry of Defence. Being India’s first indigenous robot, ARISTO was designed in partnership with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to serve in multiple capacities in training and research, and has grown since its inception to gain global recognition MTAB has also been focusing efforts on developing SR4 series and AR6 series robots for the domestic and global market. These industrial robots have been developed to meet the domestic market demand at a reasonable cost, taking into consideration the newer, smaller and medium customer base, who will require local support to define their requirements and implement the solution. Besides the manufacturing industry, MTAB serves another distinct market segment: education, where training is imparted to future employees and industrialists to work and innovate in the advanced manufacturing and automation sector.
